The Second Wind For Life Initiative was born out of our passion to give back, in particular to individuals in the community facing medical-financial hardships while living with chronic diseases.
DonnDe co-founded Second Wind For Life in 2010, realizing that there are times, in most of our lives, when the wind suddenly blows and simply shifts things out of order, and challenges are left to overcome. How does one get through those challenges and on to the next? Well, one gathers them self, think about their past life races, set their goal, call their village, and go! It is our passion to help individuals in the community sustain their balance during their race by pulling together our villages (people helping people). With our help, their vision of the goal line seems achievable and then their Second Wind kicks in. Now, they are ready to finish the race with a different approach.
Second Wind For Life is a Texas nonprofit organization promoting awareness of chronic diseases and the medical-financial hardships faced by individuals in the community with those major medical diseases. We promote the efforts of seven organizations focusing on the education, research, and prevention of chronic diseases. In particular, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Lupus Foundation of America, National Glaucoma Research, National Kidney Foundation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Sickle Cell Disease Association of America.
Second Wind For Life also provides major medical financial assistance to individuals in the community with chronic diseases to support their quality of life. We also foster relationships with our client’s family to provide fundraising guidance.
The clients of Second Wind for Life are asked to have a hands-on involvement in achieving their second wind. We ask that they seek education regarding their disease, and be involved in the creative brainstorming to secure ways in which they can raise funds to support their quality of life during their medical challenge. We also for the family of our clients to volunteer and give support in our clients fundraising efforts.
